holidaymakers experience the heat in chalets while camping

There are not many people outside in the campsite at lunch break. Except Jérémy and his family, sitting on their terrace. They are obliged to brave the heat because inside it’s even worse.

In the chalets, it really is a heat sink

Although they were aware of high temperatures in the Dordognethey were still surprised when they arrived the day before. “It’s very hot. In the chalets, it’s really a heat sink. When we arrived, I think we were at 33, 35 degrees” says Jeremy.

The chalet only for the night

Fortunately, the night from Saturday to Sunday allowed them to breathe a little with the drop in temperatures and to rest. In contrast, unable to fall asleep in the middle of the day for the children’s siesta. However, they sleep without blankets and sheets, without being much dressed. “I stayed 20 minutes with the children in the room to take a nap. They stirred a little and after half an hour it was much warmer” laments Natalie.

Without open windows, no draft

The chalet is not equipped to withstand such heat, especially being at four in 28 square meters. “The windows only open about ten centimeters. Even if we have one just opposite, we can’t get a draft. In addition, the freezer is small. We have six loaves of ice, that’s all you can fit in. They’re not even frozen” explains the mother. The parents try to preserve a little freshness by closing all the doors of the chalet and drawing the curtains on the windows.

To avoid the stifling heat of the chalet, the little family stays outside and multiplies outdoor outings, while taking precautions.
