Hockey Quebec freezes part of its funding to Hockey Canada. She says she is “troubled” by the handling of sexual assault cases.

Struggling with multiple sexual assault scandals, Hockey Canada is repudiated by its partner Hockey Quebec. The Quebec federation, saying it is “troubled” by the management of the national organization, will freeze part of its funding.

In a motion adopted Tuesday evening, Hockey Quebec says it no longer has “confidence in the ability of the Federation [canadienne] to act effectively to change the culture of hockey with the structure in place,” reports The Press.

That same day, in a parliamentary committee, the interim president of Hockey Canada’s board of directors, Andrea Skinner, still defended the managers and gave them her support, despite repeated calls from federal elected officials for resignations.

“I’m putting out fires for Hockey Canada,” lamented Wednesday morning the president of the Board of Hockey Quebec, Claude Fortin, in an interview with All one morning.

Hockey Quebec says it is “troubled” that no expert or organization “working in education, awareness and prevention of sexual violence, abuse, intimidation and discrimination has been consulted or has contributed to the content of the plan” .
