Hockey: Defender Logan Mailloux signs a three-year contract with the Montreal Canadiens.

The Montreal Canadiens agreed Wednesday on the terms of a standard contract for a three-year rookie with defender Logan Mailloux.

The deal, which will tie Mailloux to the club until the end of the 2024-25 season, will net Mailloux US$750,000 this season and US$832,500 the other two, in addition to a signing bonus of US$92,500. $.

If he plays in the American League, Mailloux will receive $70,000 per season.

The 19-year-old Mailloux played 12 games with the London Knights last season, recording nine points (three goals, six assists) and 13 penalty minutes.

The native of Belle River, Ont., was the 31st overall pick in the 2021 draft.
