Hockey Canada announces slate of candidates for Directors’ Office positions

Hockey Canada has released its slate of candidates for the nine vacant positions on its board of directors, whose terms will be for one year only.

Members of the organization will hold a ballot on Saturday to determine whether or not to accept the entire list of candidates, which includes five women and four men.

Members of Hockey Canada’s Board of Directors resigned in October following a scandal stemming from their handling of sexual assault allegations targeting members of two editions of the Canada Junior Team.

Hugh L. Fraser, a retired judge with nearly 30 years of experience in Ontario’s justice system, has been named chair of the board of directors.

Fraser, who was born in Kingston, Jamaica, and raised in Kingston, Ont., has served as a mediator at the Court of Arbitration for Sport since 1995 and served on the first special tribunal at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.

Cassie Campbell-Pascall, who notably led the Canadian women’s hockey team to gold medals at the Games in Salt Lake City in 2002 and Turin in 2006, is one of eight directors’ office nominees who have been identified.

The others are: Quebecers Jonathan F. Goldbloom and Julie Duranceau, as well as Grant Borbridge, Dave Evans, Marni Fullerton, Marian Jacko and Andrea Poole.
