The facts occurred around 12:30 p.m., at the corner of rue Hochelaga and boulevard Pie-IX, a busy intersection where at least two lanes arrive in each direction.

According to the first information transmitted by the spokesperson for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), Caroline Chèvrefils, the collision occurred when the driver of the police vehicle was heading towards an emergency call received at 911, while driving heading north on boulevard Pie-IX.

“Arriving at the intersection with rue Hochelaga, the patrol vehicle would have been driving on a red light, and that’s when there would have been an impact with the other car, which was traveling westbound on Hochelaga. “, explained M.me Honeysuckle.

The two police officers and the two citizens who were in the other vehicle, a man and a woman, were all transported to a nearby hospital “as a preventive measure”. However, they would not have been significantly injured, and their lives are not in danger.

A security perimeter has been erected around the area where the accident occurred, to allow the collision scene investigators to analyze it. They will try to better understand the exact circumstances of this event.
