Hochelaga-Maisonneuve | Shots fired on the grounds of a primary school

(Montreal) Shots were fired late Sunday evening on the grounds of an elementary school in eastern Montreal.

In the middle of the night on Monday, the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) had not yet reported any injuries and no arrests had been made.

It was calls transmitted to the 911 telephone exchange around 10:15 p.m. that led the police to go to the school located at the intersection of Pierre-de-Coubertin and Carignan avenues, in the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve district. Police were told the shots were fired by people who fled on foot before officers arrived.

Around 11:45 p.m., dogs from the SPVM canine squad spotted casings on the ground. A security perimeter was immediately erected to allow investigators and forensic identification technicians to examine the scene.

The SPVM must also question witnesses about this case.

A few hours after the events, the Montreal School Services Center had not reported any class cancellations to the school concerned.
