(Montreal) A 57-year-old man with a criminal record was taken to hospital after being hit by at least one gunshot during an argument that erupted early Thursday night. in an apartment in the east end of Montreal.
The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) reported at the end of the night that the injured individual would have been saved. However, no suspects have been arrested by the authorities.
According to information obtained by the SPVM, around 1:50 a.m., an unknown number of suspects showed up at a dwelling on rue Bossuet, located near the intersection of rue Ontario Est, in the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve district.
Shortly after the victim opened the door, an altercation broke out and shots rang out; at least one of them hit that victim.
The assailants then fled to an unknown destination.
Other people were at the apartment during the shooting, but were not injured.
The police arrived on the scene and found at least one casing and the impact of a projectile firearm. The accommodation was to be combed through during the day by SPVM investigators who were to receive assistance from members of the canine squad and forensic identification technicians.
Interrogations were also planned, with the victim and the occupants of the accommodation as well as with people from the neighborhood. A search for images from surveillance cameras was also to be initiated.
