Hit by a van in Saint-Jérôme | A sixty-year-old woman fights for her life

A 63-year-old woman is in critical condition after being hit by a van on Saturday in Saint-Jérôme, in the Laurentians.


The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. on Bélanger Street, near Curé-Labelle Boulevard, according to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ),

The driver of the van lost control of his vehicle before hitting a pedestrian. The vehicle then continued its journey into the parking lot of a nearby business.

The victim’s life is feared and he was taken to hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

The driver of the vehicle, a 35-year-old man, was met by police. The passengers in the vehicle, a woman in her thirties and three people under the age of 18, were hospitalized with minor injuries.

Traffic on Bélanger Street was blocked between Curé-Labelle Boulevard and Laviolette Street.

The Saint-Jérôme Police Department and the Sûreté du Québec are jointly investigating the circumstances and causes of the incident. Sûreté du Québec reconstructionists were also dispatched to the scene.
