The accident took place shortly before 11 a.m. on Highway 13 North at kilometer 2.

“A motorcyclist was seriously injured following a collision involving another vehicle, and this other vehicle did not remain on the scene following the collision. The event is being treated as a hit-and-run,” said Sûreté du Québec (QS) spokesperson, Stéphane Tremblay.

There was an impact between the motorcycle and the vehicle, possibly due to a lane change, said Mr. Tremblay. The motorcycle was in the left lane and the car in the center or right lane, and there would have been an impact following which the motorcycle was thrown to the ground.

The driver of the motorcycle, a woman in her thirties, was transported to a hospital center where there are fears for her life.

The Major Crimes Investigation Service of the SQ took charge of the investigation since it is a hit and run.

Highway 13 northbound has been closed to traffic while investigators analyze the scene.
