Hit and run in Montreal: a motorcyclist between life and death

A motorcyclist was seriously injured Friday morning in a collision followed by a hit-and-run in Montreal.

The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) received a call around 6:15 a.m. concerning a hit-and-run that occurred on boulevard Pitfield near boulevard Côte-Vertu, in the borough of Saint-Laurent.

A sports utility vehicle (SUV) and a motorcycle were traveling northbound on Pitfield Boulevard when the car made a U-turn. The SUV struck the motorcycle before heading south. No arrests had yet been made by early afternoon.

The 30-year-old motorcyclist was taken to hospital to treat injuries that would put his life in danger, said Jean-Pierre Brabant, spokesperson for the SPVM.

Pitfield Boulevard was thus closed from the Côte-Vertu intersection before being reopened to traffic around noon.

Investigators must watch surveillance videos in order to obtain more information on this hit and run.
