(Mont-Tremblant) The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) is investigating a hit-and-run causing death that occurred in Mont-Tremblant, in the Laurentians region.
Emergency services were notified on Saturday of the collision involving a pedestrian which occurred at around 2 a.m. on Montée Ryan.
“According to initial information, a man in his thirties suffered serious injuries after being found on the ground. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition, where unfortunately he was pronounced dead,” said Élizabeth Marquis-Guy, spokesperson for the SQ.
The suspect in this case is a man in his twenties who was quickly arrested.
“The driver, in his twenties, apparently hit the pedestrian and continued on his way without stopping. The police arrested him,” the information officer said.
He will likely face justice on serious charges.
“He could face charges of hit and run causing death, as well as operating a vehicle while impaired,” Mr.me Marquis-Guy.
The suspect was due to be met by investigators in the coming hours.
The investigation was entrusted to the Major Crimes Section of the Sûreté du Québec.
A reconstructionist specializing in accident scenes was called to the scene.
The SQ investigation continues.
