The automobile sector is in crisis in the United States. Three factories simultaneously launched an unprecedented strike, due to lack of agreement with the manufacturers Ford, General Motors and Stellantis on wage increases.

It is a historic strike that affects the automobile sector in the United States. 13,000 employees in this sector of activity will go on strike for lack of agreement with manufacturers Ford, General Motors and Stellantis. In Detroit, Michigan, strikers are encouraged by motorists’ horns. “This is the defining moment for our generation”says Shawn Fains, president of the United Auto Workers union.

Negotiations for salary increases that are getting longer

Although the strike action began last night, negotiations for wage increases are dragging on. The workers want a 36% increase in their salary spread over four years. Employees emphasize this aspect because they have been impacted by inflation for two years. General Motors and Ford made around ten billion dollars in profits this year. Joe Biden believes that these profits can enable a win-win agreement.
