Historic storm in Nova Scotia: its street not cleared of snow for four days

Citizens of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, are not at the end of their troubles as it will take several days for the streets to be completely cleared of snow following the historic winter storm that hit the province during the weekend.

At least that’s what Cape Breton resident Patrick Poupart thinks. He indicated that no snowplow has passed his street for four days, even though accumulations of up to 150 cm have been recorded depending on the sector.

“We are really well and truly taken,” he underlined during an interview with LCN.

He explained that the main arteries are cleared of snow, but that the other roads are still buried or blocked by piles of snow, so that people find themselves confined to their homes.

“So if there’s an emergency, well, she’ll wait,” he joked.

If the amount of snow that fell on the Maritime province in recent days is significant, Patrick Poupart is rather impressed by the fact that he could see his lawn last week.

While waiting for the roads to be cleared, Cape Breton citizens will have to shovel the snow weighed down by the rain and will be able to visit their neighbors… using snowshoes.
