A 37-year-old man, remanded in custody in the investigation into the murder of his mistress’s husband, was discovered hanged on Saturday in his Fleury-Mérogis cell, the Evry prosecutor’s office told AFP. He committed suicide with the lace of one of his shoes according to the prison guards who came to bring lunch to the detainee around noon.
Nothing in particular had been noted during the interview with the young man on his arrival at the remand center or during the morning stay in the cell of the guards according to the prosecution. An investigation was opened to find the causes of the death of the detainee and entrusted to the Bondoufle gendarmerie brigade.
The body of the husband buried in a forest
It was Friday that the body of a business manager was discovered, buried in the Marcoussis forest, in Essonne, about forty kilometers south of Paris, according to the Evry prosecutor’s office. His wife and her lover were indicted for murder and imprisoned.
The 47-year-old entrepreneur had disappeared ten days ago, said the prosecution, confirming information from Le Parisien newspaper.
The investigation, initially open for kidnapping, was quickly reclassified as an assassination, “many elements allowing to consider that the husband had been killed”, a source familiar with the matter told AFP.
The 32-year-old wife of the entrepreneur, heard by investigators, was finally indicted on Wednesday, then her 37-year-old lover on Friday. They were both remanded in custody.
An autopsy of the victim’s body is expected to be performed next week. And the investigations into the murder investigation were entrusted to the gendarmes of the Paris research section.
