his very special request on his deathbed about Emmanuel Macron

His outspokenness, his famous “you have no shame”to Marine Le Pen, or even his courage in the face of Vladimir Putin. Many anecdotes will allow us to remember to what extent Jean-Pierre Elkabbach was an unforgettable and unique journalist. He unfortunately left us on Tuesday October 3, 2023 at the age of 86.

The one who has long officiated on Europe 1 has experienced numerous health problems in recent years. But his major surgery in 2019 will gradually exhaust him. Indeed, Jean-Pierre Elkabbach was operated on to have a very large sarcoma removed before returning to the operating table in the summer of 2023. On October 1, 2023 he suffered an accidental fall, leading to a worsening of his condition.

This Friday, October 6, his funeral was held at the Montparnasse cemetery in the 14th arrondissement of Paris. His family, of course, but also his loved ones, came to pay him a final tribute. And in particular his daughter, Emmanuelle, known for her roles in A French village or the series Clem broadcast on TF1. She paid him a poignant tribute and did not fail to recall her father’s last words, proving that, even on his hospital bed, he kept his journalist’s cap on until the end.

Emmanuel Macron, still in the spirit of Jean-Pierre Elkabbach

“Ask the doctor what time I can leave, come pick me up and let’s go”Emmanuelle first declared, quoting her father’s words, before continuing: “He asked that President Macron’s trip to Corsica be told in the smallest details, everyone’s reaction, the atmosphere, the feedback, everything… Never miss anything, ever”.

The actress then spoke of the special relationship she had with her father, “absolutely not like the others”. “Our relationship is unique. So often absent, he who sacrificed everything for his job took time to let our love blossom”she remembered, in tears, before confiding, still in great emotion: “Once his unhealthy modesty was subdued, he became an omnipresent father, attentive, generous, funny, loving, encouraging. He was my best friend, my confidant, my favorite clown, my fantasy partner and my compass. I am so proud of him, of the path traveled. So proud that we were able to overcome all the obstacles without complacency. I remember our sometimes heated and brutal exchanges, the depth of his gaze and our bursts of laughter. Our relationship became our treasure .”
