It’s a miracle. The driver of a heavyweight had the reflex to jump out of his cabin, before his truck fell into a ravine, 130 meters below, this Thursday shortly before 10 a.m. on the road to the Chailles gorges towards Saint-Franc, on the Savoie side, a particularly narrow road in places.
It squeezes on the ravine side to cross with a car
The driver of the mixer truck sees a car coming in front. He hugs his truck on the ravine side, to be able to cross with the vehicle. Except that the rear wheels bite the side.. and with the inertia of the spinning topwhich is full of cement, the dumpster begins to tip over.
The driver is unable to regain control. As the truck really begins to fall, he has the reflex to open the door and eject from his cabin. The mixer truck will end up crashing 130 meters below, at the bottom of the Chailles gorges.
Rescuers recovered the driver about 4 meters down the road. Injured in the chest and very shocked, he was hospitalized in Chambéry, but is doing miraculously: his life is not in danger. An investigation has been opened by the Chambéry gendarmerie company.
