Garou marks his comeback with a new song called Upscene. An unpublished title that he himself wrote. This Saturday, November 20, 2021, Garou spoke at length about this for the show We are live on France 2. “This is the first time that I really started writing and having fun writing”, explained the interpreter of Downwind to Léa Salamé. A great first for the artist who continues in the field of music. “I didn’t have time”, Garou analyzed. “I lived at 300 an hour all the time and I said to myself” I’m lucky to have songs from Jean-Jacques [Goldman], by Francis Cabrel, by Brian Adams, so I don’t need to write (…). It’s my daughter’s fault ”.
To believe his words, the latter named Emelie encouraged him to launch without scintillating. “When the pandemic arrives, I am on tour in Russia and then we finally come home in panic. I have trouble seeing my daughter because we are in quarantine ”, added Garou who has revitalized himself in the green. “Finally I buy a maple ukulele for my daughter”.
A gift which made its small effect with the main concerned. “We meet in a park. And I knew that maybe I would wake up something because, girl, I tried to teach her the piano, the guitar, but she didn’t want to, she was like stuck: ‘This is daddy’s thing ‘”, Garou said. “And when I gave her the ukulele, she hugged me, she was so happy. And she started to compose songs on her ukulele, and that was great. ”
His creativity visibly inspired him for the composition of his new title. “It put the pressure on me, and I said to myself: ‘Now you have to go,’ said the artist not without pride. “It was the moment, I needed a twenty year old girl to explain life to me.”.
