his new boss is called Marc-Olivier Fogiel and their bond is much stronger than that!

An incredible transfer! It was on Instagram that Laurent Ruquier officially announced his departure from France 2, after several weeks of reflection. And, for a few days, the forecasts went well… The Parisian even announced its arrival on TF1! On the social network, the host wrote not without hiding his disappointment: “I no longer have the confidence of France 2 and no more bonuses from “Children of TV” or “Big heads” next season. It’s time to think about other horizons”. And to thank all its collaborators and viewers after 23 years of good and loyal service. Without forgetting to recall what he brought to entertainment: “Through all these years on France 2, I had already had the pride of introducing you to Franck Dubosc, Jean Luc Lemoine, Florence Foresti, Kev Adams, Nicole Ferroni, Waly Dia, Artus, Jeremy Ferrari, Ahmed Syllla, Constance or Léa Salamé… I can’t name them all.”

“Take time for reflection”

And this Saturday, July 15, 2023, BFMTV officially announced the arrival of Laurent Ruquier on its antenna, Monday to Thursday from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. alongside Julie Hammett for the 2023/2024 season, from October. A new meeting which will find itself head-on opposite the programs hosted by Cyril Hanouna on C8, Yann Barthès on TMC or even Anne-Elisabeth Lemoine on France 5. And a piece of news that delights the editorial director, Marc- Olivier Fogie:The arrival of Laurent signals the continuation of our desire for growth“. The facilitator, for his part, declared to be “very happy to join BFMTV, the reference news channel which gives me the chance to return to what has always fascinated me: the news, whether political, sporting, cultural or societal. This new challenge will be an opportunity for me to process and discuss the information, both by leaving room for the live but also by taking the time to reflect on events about which we sometimes tend to react too quickly without bringing the necessary shades. AsI’ve always done it for thirty years, whether it’s when I started on France Inter or for twenty years on the public service, I will give voice to different ideas. (…)” If this transfer is surprising, it is not, however, a pure coincidence.

As we know, Marc-Olivier Fogiel and Laurent Ruquier have known each other for a long time, as the boss of BFMTV reminded the Parisian, this July 15th. The two television personalities gave each other appointment “last week” for a lunch. The host then opened up about his situation with the public service. “He spoke to me as a friend. But I felt at one point that if I made him an offer, he would accept. He handed me a pole, I grabbed it.”explained Marc-Olivier Fogiel daily. Also specifying that the conductor of the Big heads on RTL wanted to reconnect with topical subjects : It had been three years since he dared speak to me about it. Laurent, I saw him evolve at Europe 1 and at RTL, he is a journalist at heart.“, still assures the former sworn enemy of Thierry Ardisson. Everything ended quickly, a coffee, the bill and a job contract!
