Terrible news fell on Friday September 8, 2023. Around 11 p.m., an earthquake measuring 7 on the Richter scale, whose epicenter was located in the province of Al-Houaz southwest of Marrakech, hit Morocco, killing thousands. A few hours after this tragedy, many French artists from the Maghreb country, or simply in support of the victims, spoke to express their sadness.
Among them, Jamel Debbouze, bruised after learning that the city so dear to his heart, and to which he goes in particular to present the Marrakech of Laughterwas affected by such a disaster: “All my support and thoughts go to the victims, their loved ones and all those affected by the earthquake. Let us all help and make our contribution to help Morocco and pray that lives will be saved within hours and the days to come. Let’s take care of each other, courage and strength.”

Jamel Debbouze collapsed in the face of the situation in Morocco

Despite his pain, he says he is happy that his mother was able to avoid the worst. Indeed, she was to go to Marrakech according to her words on September 9, 2023. “Big big strength to all my Moroccan brothers and sisters”he wrote in a first Instagram story before revealing: “My mom had to be there, she couldn’t catch her plane.” She may have felt frustrated when she missed her flight, but in the end, missing it may have saved her life.
