A 40-year-old woman was arrested on Wednesday, October 20 in Brebières (Pas-de-Calais) and indicted on Friday for “intentional homicide of a 15-year-old minor”, after the discovery on September 14 of the body of a newborn baby in one of the bins of a Lille-Marseille TGV, learned France Bleu Nord from the Béthune prosecutor’s office. The forty-year-old is suspected of having given the death to her child whom she had just given birth.
A 48-year-old man, the suspect’s companion, was also arrested on Wednesday. He was released because the investigations do not allow for the moment to determine his involvement. He said he did not know his partner was pregnant. She, on the other hand, was aware of it.
On September 14, a maintenance agent discovered around 9 p.m. the body of the newborn baby in one of the bins of a TGV Ouigo Lille-Marseille, in Marseille Saint-Charles station, while he was cleaning from the train to its terminus. The body was wrapped in paper. According to the prosecution, the results of the autopsy showed that the newborn “had breathed and was therefore born alive and viable”. It was the departmental security of Bouches-du-Rhône which carried out the investigation via the miners’ brigade.
