He left us in May 2018, at the age of 88, after an exceptional life, between television, cinema, publishing, radio… Pierre Bellemare had spent the last 18 years of his life in Périgord, where he slowly declined. , as he suffered successive strokes. It was his son, the host Pierre Dhostel, who explained it this November 2 to Jordan de Luxe, on C8. Guest of the show “At Jordan’sthe paf star explained that her dad was lucky “all his head until August 2017”. Unfortunately, in eight months, everything had happened very quickly…
“It was very hard for him”
Before that, Pierre Bellemare had a stroke in 2011, which marked the beginning of the end for him. His son says “It was very hard for him, he was all alone in Paris, in his bathroom and his head hit the sink, so he was unconscious on the floor, a huge injury to his head. And when he woke up, he couldn’t get up because he was too heavy. It hurt him a lot, it made him age a lot…”
After that, Pierre Bellemare then did “small strokes, where he lost consciousness, and he came back”. “He had memory loss.” also remembers his son who reports that in May 2018, when he had him hospitalized in Paris, because he “was really not good and something had to be done.”the white-haired man then asked him “Do you know where my stories are?”
“I think it damages the brain”
These stories were the true passion of the storyteller Pierre Bellemare. According to his son, if he liked TV games, he loved more than anything telling his stories on the radio, on television, or in his more than 60 books. Arrived in Périgord to end his old days, “no one asked him to tell stories anymore” his son saddens. And even if he continued in the villages, or during local fairs, after a while, the successive strokes, “I think it damages the brain”finally noted Pierre Jr.
