“I have been very lucky”, he explained last September, a few days after a violent motorcycle accident which could have cost him dearly. This November 30, 2023, Matthieu Kassovitz was the guest of Mouloud Achour, on Canal +, whom he knows well. And the latter confessed to him with emotion: “I didn’t think I would say to a guest one day, ‘I’m glad to see you alive. We actually thought we were going to lose you’”.

Touché, the director of Hate replied : “I know, I woke up to a number of messages, from friends and former friends, even family who thought I was gone. It was quite an interesting test. It’s like I invited people to my fake funeral and I thought 100 people were going to come. And finally there were 10,000 who came. It was very impressive”.
Faced with the excitement surrounding his drama, which even earned him headlines on the 24-hour news channels, Matthieu Kassovitz hallucinated when he woke up. For several days before, he had been in a coma because he felt “too much pain“, he said. And this “induced coma“was very hard for his loved ones to live with, he says, because his family thought for a while that he was dead,” reveals Matthieu Kassovitz.
Reassuring news
As a reminder, when his two-wheeler hit a safety rail while he was doing an advanced training course on the Linas-Montlhéry racing circuit (Essonne), Matthieu Kassovitz suffered several fractures to his pelvis and femur. Today, he wants to be reassuring: “I almost lost my foot but for now, it’s holding.”
