Caroline Goldman does not intend to let it go. This Sunday, March 26, 2023, our colleagues from “Point” honored his right of reply following the publication of a column relayed by “Le Monde” – on March 23 – which tackled his approach as a psychologist. In the paper, more than 280 specialists and researchers criticized his methods deemed “repressive”. For them, the idea of “time out” promoted by the latter would be harmful to young audiences.
As our colleagues from “Aufeminim.com”, this punishment consists of isolating a child after an argument or other delicate situation. “They confuse educational limits and abuse”, annoyed Caroline Goldman shocked that her methods are taxed with “ordinary educational violence”. The opportunity for her to defend her work “Go to your room! Offers educational limits to your children” which had the merit of dividing the collective.
“It speaks precisely of the means of putting in place the educational limits when necessary… The text of my detractors conceals the intentionally transgressive preliminary of the child”, entrusted the sister of Michael Goldman. And to clarify not without bitterness: “Talking about time-out (or temporary shelving) without mentioning the context in which I advise putting it in place (endangering oneself or others, major socio-relational discomfort) skews the debate and gives to the methodological precision of this sanction an anarchic, arbitrary, and therefore necessarily cruel character.”

In his eyes, his work has been unfairly “demonized”.“The excerpts quoted forget a multitude of precisions as to the ‘set’ in which the time-out must be practiced. However, it is widely discussed in my book, which recalls the virtues of attachment and ‘positive reinforcement’ mentioned in the scientific literature devoted to it.”, regretted the happy mother of four children.
In wanting to restore its letters of nobility to parental authority, Caroline Goldman did not expect such misunderstanding among her opponents. “The initiators of this platform are traders who have no patients and live from the sale of positive parenting books.
