The woman placed in police custody for having fatally injured her companion with a knife on Friday March 10 in the evening in Dinan (Côtes-d’Armor), was indicted for murder and imprisoned, we learned on Monday with the Rennes public prosecutor’s office.

The gendarmes had been called on Friday around 9 p.m. to intervene at the home of a 28-year-old woman, “victim of domestic violence by his partner”, indicated the public prosecutor of Saint-Malo, Fabrice Tremel, in a press release.

The couple’s 5-year-old son taken to the shelter

Upon their arrival, the gendarmes who had just heard cries for help inside the house “found that a woman was holding another woman who was already seriously injured standing against her at arm’s length”, explains the prosecutor. They used a Taser to force the attacker to let go of the victim who, despite first aid, died a few minutes later. She had suffered several injuries, including to the chest, forearm and neck, according to the medical examiner.

At the end of her police custody, the defendant, born in 1998, was referred to the criminal center of Rennes where she was indicted for “voluntary homicide by spouse or cohabitant” then remanded in custody.

According to several witnesses, the victim’s 5-year-old son witnessed a first scene of violence. He had been sheltered by one of the witnesses outside the house and then transported to the pediatric emergency room of the Saint-Malo hospital.
