For the sixty years of her career, Mireille Mathieu has decided to see things big! The 77-year-old singer, who has been a hit since she was 16, in France, China, Russia and even the United States, announced this Wednesday, November 8, 2023 to AFP the program that she had concocted for her fans to celebrate this sixth artistic decade. The singer of the famous hit Une femme amour has decided to offer a new tour, with a series of concerts offered in 2025. She will also offer a new album, dedicated to the woman to whom she owes her entire career: Edith Piafof whom she has always been a huge fan.
This is not the first time that Mireille Mathieu has paid tribute to the woman who gave her the desire to become a singer in the early 1960s. In 1993, the singer published an album called Mireille Mathieu chante Piaf, which was elapsed at more than 100,000 sales. In 1996, during a unique concert in Los Angeles, American critics compared her to Edith Piaf : “The musical spirit of Edith Piaf and Judy Garland is alive and well through the singing of French singer Mireille Mathieu (…) When she arrived on stage, it seemed impossible that this little figure, with her ensemble of seven instrumentalists and three choristers, manages to master the sound amplitude of the amphitheater”. Throughout her career, Mireille Mathieu has covered many of Edith Piaf’s successes, from La Vie en rose in 1976 to The Hymn to Love in 1985, passing through My God in 1990. She also took over Do not leave me by Jacques Brel and A woman in love by Barbra Streisand.

Coming from a modest family, the eldest of 14 children, Mireille Mathieu first started as a worker in an envelope creation factory, to help her parents provide for the needs of all her brothers and sisters. His father, a mason, died in 1985 at the age of 65, and his mother, a native of Dunkirk, died in 2016 at age 96.
