In Brittany, residents of nursing homes take a hip-hop class. An original way to maintain physical activity for the elderly.
Big first at the Yze residence, in Corps-Nuds (Ille-et-Vilaine): it’s time for hip-hop class. Clément Noël had had the opportunity to present dance movements to residents in nursing homes. He decided to go further by offering courses. “They do gymnastics and circus well sometimes, so why not adapted hip-hop?”, underlines the young man, creator of Hip-Hop Happiness. “They are super happy afterwards to tell the grandkids that they have tried this dance.”
Movements of the neck, arms and legs: the discipline is complete and the residents conquered. “I find certain movements of the gym classes”, explains one of them. “It can’t hurt!”, rejoices another, 102 years old. Clément Noël can even be prescribed by prescription, since it is recognized by the Regional Health Agency (ARS). The animation team validates: “I was quite amazed at the coordination of some people!”, welcomes Enora Travers, host. The session ends with a demonstration of hip-hip, an added pleasure for new students.
