While invited to the Texas Tribune Festival in Austin on Friday, Clinton commented on a Sept. 17 pro-Trump rally where several members of the crowd raised their index fingers in the air to greet the former US president. . However, this gesture is associated with the QAnon conspiratorial movement.

The candidate for the 2016 presidential election has also drawn a parallel between the rallies of Trump and those of Hitler.

“I remember when I was a student trying to figure out why people were attracted to Hitler. How could this have happened?” says Mrs. Clinton.

“I looked at some footage and saw this man vociferating and raving, as his supporters screamed and threw their arms up in the air. I asked myself: ”what happened to these people?”, she adds.

For Hillary Clinton, there are similarities between these archive images and those of Donald Trump’s rallies.

“You saw that rally in Ohio the other night: Trump was there, vociferating and delirious for over an hour, while all these young men had their arms in the air. I thought, ‘what’s going on?'” said the former American politician.

“I think it’s fair to say that we are currently witnessing a struggle between democracy and autocracy,” she added.
