Like San Marina, placed in compulsory liquidation on Monday February 20, times are tough for thousands of businesses. On the set of 12/13, journalist Lise Vogel takes stock of these failures.
Europe has experienced the largest increase in business failures for 8 years in 2022. A phenomenon that does not spare France. “It is especially small businesses, that is to say French VSEs and SMEs who drink the cup! They represent 97% of bankruptcies in 2022”details journalist Lise Vogel on the set of 12/13, Monday February 20. “In total, more than 42,000 failures recorded by the Banque de France in the last 12 months, an increase of 51.6% in one year”she adds.
Pessimistic predictions
The causes of these bankruptcies are multiple: slowdown in growth, indebtedness or energy crisis. “The explosion of gas and electricity bills has already prompted some leaders to close their doors”, says the journalist. Cyclical causes that affect many sectors. Road transport, building, catering or trade… No one seems to be spared by a phenomenon that is likely to get worse. “The number of bankruptcies could still increase by 40% in 2023 according to experts, i.e. nearly 60,000 companies in difficulty”concludes Lise Vogel.
