An economics teacher at Collège Stanislas took advantage of the pandemic confinement to have sexually explicit discussions with two of his students on social networks. Alexandre Gagné regularly sent them pornographic content where he pretended to be the star.
The 49-year-old Montrealer was facing very serious charges for sexual crimes committed against six minors, including sexual exploitation, sexual assault and luring. However, Alexandre Gagné got off lightly on Friday by pleading guilty to a single count of having made sexually explicit material accessible to a minor.
An investigation of The Press also revealed last spring that Alexandre Gagné would have contacted other minors, while he worked in other educational establishments, including the Liberté-Jeunesse school in Sainte-Marthe-sur-le-Lac and the Jean college -Eudes in Montreal. However, no charges were laid following our investigation.
Alexandre Gagné was teaching at the material time at Collège Stanislas, a private establishment which teaches the French school curriculum. At the start of the pandemic, in the spring of 2020, he began chatting with two 16-year-old girls on the Snapchat application, a social network popular with young people.
His Snapchat group with his first victim was named “The 3 Little Pigs & The Slut”. During their discussions, Alexandre Gagné spoke very crudely about pornography with the teenager and asked her if she consumed it. He soon sent her pornographic material where he pretended to be the man having sex in the videos.
Alexandre Gagné also boasted to the victim of having an Onlyfans account, a social network where people can offer erotic material for remuneration. He seemed particularly proud of his sexual exploits and let the teenager know it in crude terms. He also bragged about participating in videos on the popular site Pornhub.
Same modus operandi with the second victim to whom he sent photos of his penis, among other things. Alexandre Gagné also highlighted his sexual exploits and discussed sexuality with the teenager. In particular, he was looking for details about his sex life.
Judge Pierre Dupras ordered the preparation of a pre-sentence and sexual report in order to determine the appropriate sentence. The minimum sentence is 90 days to be served on weekends, since the charge was filed by summary conviction, which is less serious than by indictable offence.
The arrest of Alexandre Gagné caused an uproar at Collège Stanislas. The Press had also revealed that another teacher was the target of a police investigation for committing acts of a sexual nature against two students. These allegations were swept under the rug, according to our sources.
Last June, the College admitted that the culture of the school was no longer “in tune” with society and launched an independent investigation. Contacted by The Press this fall, the College refused to give us a copy of the “confidential” report. At most, an “action plan” was presented to families and staff last November.
Me Anna Levin represented the public prosecutor, while Me Anne-Geneviève Robert defended the accused.
