Greece is still plagued by fires, and up to 45°C are expected on Friday July 21 in the country. As a result, all archaeological sites will remain closed.
Greece is still affected by the heat wave on Friday July 21. “I am in front of the Acropolis of Athens (Greece), which has just closed its doors and will not reopen until around 5:30 p.m., 6 p.m. tonight, at the end of the hottest hour, like all the archaeological sites in Greece”explains, around 12:35 p.m., journalist Raphaële Schapira, in duplex.
Twenty discomforts
Rescue workers and Red Cross doctors were deployed around the archaeological site”to distribute water and take care of people suffering from any discomfort”, says the journalist. About 20 tourists have fainted in the past few days due to the high temperatures. “This morning, a rescue worker told us that he would have preferred it to close completely, since due to exposure to the sun and extreme heat, the Acropolis is becoming dangerous for the public”concludes Raphaële Schapira.
