Tunisian actor Hichem Rostom died at the age of 75 on June 28, the Tunisian Ministry of Cultural Affairs announced on social media. After more than fifty years of career, the actor leaves behind him a rich filmography. Considered the most famous actor of his generation in his native country, he took his first steps in front of the camera in France.

Hichem Rostom begins his higher education in France, he begins on the boards as a host of the National Popular Theater before embarking on the cinema. His first castings allow him to turn alongside Louis de Funès in Wing or thigh in 1976, and the series the Count of Monte Cristo (1998) with Gerard Depardieu. The comedian has also appeared in more than fifties of plays including an adaptation ofArt of Yasmine Reza in 2007.

Appointed Officer of the national order of merit in Tunisia, in 2004, the actor continued to tour regularly in series and in films including Black gold by Jean-Jacques Annaud in 2011 and Bunkoeur by Nidhal Chatta released this year. His sudden disappearance has moved Internet users, many of whom pay tribute to him on social networks.
