2024 - Hibernarock Festival, a month of concerts in the heart of winter

Rare music festival to take place in winter and in rural areas, Hibernarock returns for its 17th edition. On the program, more than 20 dates spread over Cantal with headliners like Mademoiselle K and Acid Arab.

Saint-Constant, Mauriac, Sainte-Anastasie, Champs-sur-Tarentaine, Parlan, Naucelles, Pleaux, Anterrieux… For those who are not Cantalou, these names mean nothing. These are the Auvergne municipalities that are taking part in the Hibernarock 2023 adventure. They are 14 in total to host this extraordinary festival: winter, rural, itinerant and focused on current music.

Until April 11, twenty-eight groups will perform in the four corners of Cantal. Among them, already recognized artists: Acid Arab, Sandra Nkaké (Victoires de la musique 20 12), Justin Adams (arranger and guitarist for Robert Plant), Aloïse Sauvage, Da Break…

Adapt to places

Here, no Zenith. Artists have to adapt to places that are not intended to host concerts. Multipurpose room, media library but also gymnasium, it sometimes takes a little negotiation for the groups to agree to play in places that are not renowned for their acoustic quality. But Inès Sanchez, the programmer of the Hibernarock festival, knows how to be convincing!

Hibernarock was created in 2006 by by the Departmental Association for Music and Dance. Its ambition: to bring contemporary music to rural areas where the cultural offer is less diversified. Rates remain affordable with many free concerts and free shuttles available. In seventeen years of existence, the festival has found its audience. Each year, nearly 4,000 people attend the concerts.
