Iran predicts retaliation. Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah judges Friday April 5 “inevitable” Iran’s response to the strike attributed to Israel on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, which left 16 dead. “Be sure and certain that the Iranian response to the strike on the consulate in Damascus is inevitable”said Hassan Nasrallah in a televised speech, as thousands of Iranians took to the streets in Tehran to demonstrate their anger.

Seven Iranian soldiers, including two high-ranking officers, were killed in a strike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus on Monday. Iran immediately accused Israel, which did not confirm its responsibility. According to Hezbollah, the strike on the consulate constitutes a turning point in the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip.

Hezbollah “does not fear war and is fully prepared for any war” against Israel, warned Hassan Nasrallah in his speech on the occasion of Al-Quds Day (Jerusalem), which is held every last Friday of Ramadan in solidarity with the Palestinians and against Israel.
