From Wednesday September 20 to Friday September 22, 2023, Charles III and his wife Camilla Parker Bowles
were in state visit to France
. Their stay began in Bordeaux for four hours before join Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron
in Paris. The same evening, an incredible dinner was organized at the Palace of Versailles
where many personalities were invited.
Sensitive to issues of global warming and organic farming, Charles III
notably visited several sites around Bordeaux such as the Floirac experimental forest. “He was very interested, he is relatively knowledgeable on the issue. He also created The Circular Bioeconomy Alliance in 2020, a sort of foundation which notably sets up living labs like ours, on the themes of restoration of “ecosystems and revegetation. The possibility of collaboration with this foundation was raised.” said Sylvain Delzon, the research director of Inrae and University of Bordeaux at the microphone of 20 minutes. But he is not the only lucky one to have met him.

Charles III visited a festival celebrating British and French culture and business on the Place de la Bourse in Bordeaux last week. During this event, the British king tasted a wine produced by Noémie Tanneau. Since this visit from the monarch, the young winemaker has seen her orders multiply since she received no less than 70 emails the next day, as she told France 3.
It all started with the following message: “Noémie, would you like to let King Charles taste your wine?“. Initially thinking of it as a joke, the young woman was indeed designated to have this privilege thanks in particular to a trophy received thanks to her commitment rewarding her for her respect for nature. Launched into this wine adventure after the takeover of Château Saint-Ferdinand in 2020 and a plot of land of six hectares, she was not an expert.
Noémie Tanneau has three vintages, including the Source vintage in AOC tasted by the king. “When we start from nothing, we’re not from the wine industry and this happens to us, after four years of hard work, it’s unexpected. I’m proud of us, of our little team and my family and my husband who have supported me from the start”, rejoiced the woman who only hired one wine worker. Before concluding : “I would never have thought that. The king is the best influencer!“. A nice publicity stunt indeed!
