A few hours before the draw for the group stages of the football tournament at the Olympic Games, Wednesday March 20, the president of the French Football Federation (FFF), Philippe Diallo, announced in an interview with Figaro [article payant] that the coach of the Bleues, Hervé Renard, should not return to the head of the selection after Paris 2024.
“Hervé has a contract which ends after the Olympics at the end of August 2024 and he has made it known that he is not at all sure whether he will stay afterwards. He is mobilized for the Games and then he looks for his future“, declared the president of the 3F. “It is his wish to complete his mission and not continue it,” he added.
Eugénie Le Sommer’s teammates made Olympic gold a top priority after losing the Nations League final to Spain in late February. “We have to go get medals for this French Olympic team“, declared Hervé Renard on France 3 before the draw for the tournament on Wednesday evening.
