The aircraft landing gear maker said earnings were 33 cents per diluted share for the quarter ended March 31, compared with 24 cents per diluted share a year earlier.
Sales for the quarter totaled 147.5 million, down from 155 million in the same period last year.
The company says defense sales rose to 109.5 million from 107.3 million a year ago, mainly due to increased deliveries under contracts for Boeing F-18, Sikorsky CH-53K and Boeing MQ-25.
Civilian sales fell to 37.9 million from 47.7 million a year ago, largely due to lower deliveries for major commercial programs and customer repatriation of some contracts.
On an adjusted basis, Héroux-Devtek says it earned 38 cents per share for the quarter, up from adjusted earnings of 28 cents per share a year earlier.
