By not mentioning their ancestral buildings, the elected officials of the City of Maniwaki, in Outaouais, prevent owners from using the substantial subsidies offered by the Government of Quebec. It is rather rare and surprising that a municipality decides not to protect such old buildings.
Over time, awareness of heritage value will regress into indifference and oblivion. This must be avoided at all costs. The municipal councilors must promote a heritage interest by respectful management of the history of these valuable buildings of yesteryear.
It makes you wonder if Maniwaki has carried out a heritage inventory of these buildings of yesterday. Difficult to say since it does not seem to value this wealth.
