While the purchasing power of the French may be upset due to the Ukrainian crisis and the sanctions imposed on Russia, good news, the consumer association UFC-Que Choisir has unveiled its ranking of the least expensive supermarkets for shopping in 2022.
Indeed, several members of the association have set up absolutely identical shopping carts in more than 10,000 supermarkets across France… Result? With an average basket of 348 euros (against 408 euros for the Casino group), the Leclerc subsidiary tops the rankings according to the consumer association UFC-Que Choisir.
For information, consumers have also noted a 30% difference from one region to another. Indeed, in the north and in the west of France, the races are less expensive than in the South-East while in the Île-de-France and in the PACA region, the races are the most expensive!
“These differences can already be explained by the rent, which is necessarily higher in a store in the city center compared to a store which is in an area of activity and which is a hypermarket. There are also ways to get supplies, that is to say that some brands will get supplies via a central purchasing office. And other brands will choose to source more locally,” explained Marine Perier-Dulhoste, researcher at UFC-Que Choisir, at the microphone of LCI. You now know where to shop to get the best price on the market!
