A new concrete step on the road to the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris in 2024. During a press conference, the organizing committee unveiled the slogan of the event on Monday July 25: “Let’s open the Games wide”.
A video accompanies the announcement, with multiple national and international sports references, such as this parallel between Jesse Owens during the 1936 Games and Marianne. We also see the popular enthusiasm, but also other political and societal references. We see in particular Simone Veil, then Minister of Health, at the time of passing the law authorizing voluntary termination of pregnancy (IVG), in 1974.
The slogan chosen by the organization intends to give pride of place to inclusion. The organizers thus highlight parity between female and male athletes (5,250 on each side).
