“My biggest fear is that he will go out and come back to my house. If he comes out, I will have to hide and leave to make sure he doesn’t find me, ”wrote Stéphane Léonard, the victim’s spouse, in a letter read in court on Tuesday.

“I would have liked us to know that he is inside for at least 10-15 years”, then confided to the Newspaper the 58-year-old man, distraught, as he left the room.

He still has serious fears about his step-son Stéphane Léveillée, 48, who was accused of the unpremeditated murder of his mother Nicole Lauzon and assault on his uncle Michel Lauzon.

The court found him not responsible, on account of mental disorder, for his crimes of December 26, 2020.

That morning, the 64-year-old lady was found in her house on rue de la Plaine in Sainte-Marthe-sur-le-Lac, in the Lower Laurentians.

Léveillée had stabbed her 41 times and left her in the living room, according to the agreed statement of facts.

The latter acted at the time as a natural caregiver to her brother Michel, who has cerebral palsy.

Around 9 a.m., he therefore tried to call his sister, but it was Léveillée who answered, telling her that she was asleep.

He thought he was Robocop…

Then, Léveillée went to his uncle who lived in the house next door. He dragged him outside before pushing him down the stairs.

Seeing the scene, a neighbor hastened to alert the authorities. These quickly arrested the troubled man, who was injured and seemed intoxicated.

During his transport, the suspect launched: “I’m a Robocop, I’m af*cking Terminator. »

In the hospital, he was talking to himself, tensing up and his gaze was changing, he was observed.

It had been a year since those close to Léveillée had noticed that he was convinced that he was part of a virtual world and that he heard voices, in particular.

A notebook was also found in the basement of the residence. He referred to the soul, the spirit, the moons of Jupiter and his intergalactic spirit.

His writings, however, did not appear to be related to his drug use.

He loved his mother

During a psychiatric evaluation, Léveillée said he did not understand why he murdered his mother, who was “the most important person for him”.

“He was no longer ‘there’. But he loved her, his mother. That, there is no doubt. I hope it will come out the same,” said Mr. Léonard.

However, he is not the only one who still fears the murderer of his spouse.

“My fear is that he will come out too quickly and come and assassinate me in turn. May he not be cured, ”wrote his uncle Michel Lauzon in a letter, who now has to walk around.

” From the standpoint [d’un citoyen], it may seem shocking that there is no conviction. But you have to understand that it is a detention order, for an indefinite period, ”said Me Nicolas Lemelin, of the defense.

He assures that with such accusations, his client will have for “a long time” before recovering his freedom.

“I’m glad he’s going to [l’Institut Philippe-Pinel]. At least he will get treatment, ”concluded Mr. Léonard.
