her Kenzo winter dress worn at the National Assembly caused a scandal!

Since May 2022, Elisabeth Borne has been Prime Minister of the French State. Since then, the 61-year-old politician has had to face many controversies related to her work and her decisions in government.

For the past few weeks, Elisabeth Borne has been under fire for having used the famous and very controversial article 49-3 of the Constitution which allows the passage in force of a government decision. It is here the laws providing for the state budget and that of social security that have led to the use of this decried tool.

Elisabeth Borne criticized because of an overpriced dress
While the government is also singled out for the advice given to the French concerning savings on gas and electricity, Élisabeth Borne is today mocked after appearing at the National Assembly wearing a winter dress from the Kenzo luxury house. This is the “Fairisle” model in jacquard, sold for €490.

“One dress to one budget of 493 € for announce 49-3 on the budget” quipped a surfer when he discovered the price of the dress worn by the Prime Minister. Something to amuse hundreds of other people on Twitter who strongly commented on this tweet: ““Ugly and expensive”, “Paid with public money, in representation costs. France is beautiful, it takes care of its politicians who then despise us.”, “Precision : an ugly dress“, “Rich people explaining how the poor should save money”.

Others, on the other hand, defended the mother of the family: “I think that it does not enrich the debate and did no report with the 49-3. She manages her money as she wants”, “It’s okay, don’t kid around, 500 € for a dress is not insane either. Fillon’s costumes were €6,000! More than 10 times more expensive”, “Physical appearance or clothing have nothing to do with the political debate.”, “The salary of the Prime Minister in France is 15,735 euros gross per month… Ms. Borne therefore has ample means to buy a dress for 500 €”.
