Hard blow for Justine Triet. After winning the Palme d’Or for his film Anatomy of a fall in which Sandra Hüller opposite Arthur Harari, the director learned that her film project had not been selected for the Oscars. Visibly angry, the latter took to her social networks to express her frustration.
This Friday, September 22, 2023, the filmmaker shared the stories of several Internet users on her Instagram account. Stories that point to the decision not to send the feature film to the United States. “In order not to take the risk of winning the Oscar for best foreign film, France did not choose to send Anatomy of a Fall, Palme d’Or and box office success (nearly a million entries) but one of the most boring films in the official Cannes selection. Too much honor to a female director perhaps?”we can read in particular in a first post.
In a second publication illustrated by a man on a bicycle slipping a stick into his own wheel before falling heavily, it is written: “Have Anatomy of a Fall, don’t send it to the Oscars. We haven’t won awards since 2011”. Or : “It reeks of revenge, what a bunch of trash!”

A controversial speech
As a reminder, Justine Triet created controversy on May 27, 2023 during the closing ceremony of the 76th edition of the Cannes Film Festival.
