Enough ! In an interview given to TéléStar this Monday October 9, 2023, Marie-Sophie Lacarrau decided to react to the numerous criticisms which have overwhelmed him since his arrival at 1 p.m. on TF1, and which come from fans of Jean-Pierre Pernaut. His predecessor, although deceased for more than two years, leaves behind an indelible mark, and many 1 p.m. viewers have a hard time forgetting the tone and editorial line he gave to his newspaper.
Annoyed to be accused of “energize the legacy” by Jean-Pierre Pernaut even though the audiences for the 1 p.m. show are at their highest for four years as she affirmed to TéléStarMarie-Sophie Lacarrau steps up to the plate: “I don’t understand these remarks. I didn’t try to destroy the heritage but we have developed this newspaper with new formats. Wouldn’t that be journalism? But what do we do then?” protests the journalist who had to face a few months ago amoebic keratitis which led her to move away from the news for several long weeks.
At her highest since 2019, she does better than Jean-Pierre!
“When I see our very good start to the school year, the best since 2019 with an average of 4.5 million viewers, I think that if we didn’t renew ourselves, we wouldn’t obtain such scores” she insisted. Indeed, the audiences for 1 p.m. on TF1 are in good shape. If at one time, Marie-Sophie Lacarrau’s audiences seemed to be declining, they have now recovered well, and more than two million viewers separate her from her direct competitor. Julian Bugier.
But although tired of the criticisms which target and overwhelm her, Marie-Sophie Lacarrau prefers to focus on the daily preparation of her 1 p.m., to which she devotes herself with as much desire and enthusiasm as ever: “I enjoy thinking about this newspaper, writing it and bringing it to the air” declared the one that we could also find a few weeks ago at the co-hosting the opening ceremony of the Rugby World Cup, alongside journalists Isabelle Ithurburu and Anne-Claire Coudray.
