Before meeting Nicolas Preschey, Olivia Ruiz had a beautiful love story with Mathias Malzieu from the group Dionysos. Together, the two lovebirds even collaborated on several musical projects before ending their relationship in 2011. In 2013, the musician discovered that he suffered from a rare disease: aplastic anemia (a disease that attacks the bone marrow, editor’s note). At his worst, Mathias Malzieu tried to maintain a positive attitude. “Nietzsche’s famous phrase ‘whatever does not kill makes you stronger’ is only partially true. The illness has changed me. I have developed hypersensitivity, in the good – I experience things more intensely – and the least good – I have become a hypochondriac. And then I keep the trauma of all those who were taken hostage; I tolerate less and less people who complain about nothing, or who talk to say nothing. I I get bored quickly, to the point of lacking tolerance. I tend to demand from others the same intensity that I feel. It’s unfair. Not everyone, and fortunately, has come close to death. We must that I’m working on this”, he confided in the columns of Telerama in 2019.

The privilege of being alive
