Henry Cavill will no longer be Superman

Announced at the end of the day on Wednesday, the news continues to make waves: Henry Cavill will not wear Superman’s cape in the next film in the DCU universe. A cameo in the film black adamsbarely two months ago, announced the opposite.

The hugely popular comedian has played Superman on the big screen five times, and it was a return for him in that role, five years later Justice League. He did not hide his disappointment on Wednesday night on his Instagram account.

“In October, I was confirmed that I would be back,” he said, but the change of guard at the head of DC Studios will have changed the plans, he concluded. “That’s life and I respect that,” he wrote, adding that those who followed him had the right to “cry a little” with him.

Director James Gunn, who is now co-chairman of DC Studios with Peter Safran, made the announcement of the decision Wednesday on Twitter.

Besides, the good news is that there will indeed be a new movie starring Superman, but which will be interested in Clark Kent’s youthful years. No director is attached to the project yet. Ben Affleck’s name is circulating, but James Gunn only confirmed his desire to work with him for a DCU film, without giving more details.
