The cooks spend most of their time behind the stoves, facing dishes that are each more appetizing than the next. And then, rigor requires, they must certainly often taste their dishes to ensure that they offer a quality plate to the customers of their restaurant. This is how some chefs display a shaped silhouette. Helene Darroze is “the embodiment of that“, and by “that” she means this tendency of cooks to gain weight. At Jordan de Luxe in At Jordan’s for Entertainment TVshe talks about her relationship to the body and reveals that she has embarked on a diet.
“It’s very difficult to manageindicates the acolyte of Philippe Etchebest, Paul Pairet and Glenn Viel in Top chef. I seem calm, but I have stress from time to time, so I nibble easily. At the end of service when you’re tired, it’s 11pm, midnight in the evening, and you see the cheese platter go by… You have to resist.“Faced with this ease of gaining a few pounds in the profession, the charming 55-year-old blonde made a decision:”I just put some stuff in place that seems to work quite well but now when I taste dishes (…), I do it at mealtimeinstead of meals.“
That’s not all. The mother of Charlotte (15 years old) and Quitterie (12 years old) decided to go a little further by closely monitoring her diet. Attention no diet says “drastic“ for the chef who does “don’t hold“this type of deprivation.”I’m too greedy, too tempted, too stressed from time to time too but I have a routine that suits me well, it’s starting to get better“, she says. And to reveal her little secret, the one that, it seems, has been working miracles recently: “What I’m doing right now is I start every meal with a big green salad and it cuts my appetite. (…). I find that it fills the stomach and afterwards, we are less hungry.“
Hélène Darroze is not the only chef to change her eating habits. Jean-François Piège, former juror of Top cheflost no less than 30 kilos, thanks to a very effective method, and this in a short time!
