Heavy Rainfall | Debby Comes to Spoil the Party

The storm Debby and the heavy rainfall that it will bring with it in the coming hours is forcing the cancellation or postponement of several events.

The weather conditions forecast for this Friday, with precipitation of up to 100 mm in some places, disrupted the programming of the ComediHa! Fest-Québec festival.

Faced with such a weather cocktail, the organizers of the comedy festival in full swing in the national capital were forced to cancel all the outdoor shows presented at Place George-V.

The musical competition “The War of the Fans” which was to take place on Friday evening has therefore been cancelled.

International Balloon Festival postponed

The 41e edition of the Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu International Hot Air Balloon Festival also had to adapt to the repercussions of Storm Debby.

The opening ceremony scheduled for this Friday has finally been postponed to Saturday, August 10. The highly anticipated show “Et c’est pas fini”, as well as all other performances and activities that were to take place on Friday, August 9, will be postponed to Monday, August 12.

“Cancelling was not an option for us,” Julie Brault, general manager of the International Balloon Festival, said in a press release. “Tropical storm Debby will not have had the last word on the International Balloon Festival of St-Jean-sur-Richelieu!”

La Ronde amusement park announced that it will also close its doors to visitors all day Friday.

The show by rapper Loud, which was scheduled to take place on Friday at the Agora du Port de Québec, was also cancelled due to weather conditions.
