Heavy rain and snow depending on the region to come at the end of the week

A major weather system is expected for the coming weekend in a multitude of regions of Quebec.

Environment Canada issued a special weather forecast Thursday morning warning that precipitation will begin on Saturday in the form of rain in several regions, including Montreal, Pontiac, Laurentides, Haute-Mauricie, Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Estrie, Centre-du-Québec and Bois-Francs.

Precipitation is then expected to change to snow overnight Sunday and could persist through Monday. Significant amounts of rain and then snow will be possible in several locations.

It is mainly snow precipitation that will fall in the regions of Quebec, Saguenay and Lac-Saint-Jean, Charlevoix, Côte-Nord up to Baie-Comeau, Beauce and Bas-Saint -Laurent.

Precipitation amounts were not indicated in the federal agency’s advisories. However, she specifies that the accumulated snow could be heavy and sticky and could therefore add considerable weight to structures and trees, making them more vulnerable to breakage.

No weather forecast was sent Thursday by Environment Canada for the Outaouais, Basse-Côte-Nord and Gaspésie regions.
