More than 100 temperature records were broken in Vietnam during the month of April. The heat wave is affecting other countries in Southeast Asia, such as Thailand, Myanmar, Bangladesh and the Philippines.

In Dong Nai province, southern Vietnam, hundreds of thousands of fish died due to lack of water caused by the heatwave and poor management of this reservoir. In April, the country experienced three extreme heat waves. More than 100 temperature records were broken, according to official data from meteorological services, even exceeding 44°C in two cities in Vietnam.

Thousands of schools closed

The deadly heat wave is affecting all of Southeast Asia. In Thailand, 30 people have died since the start of the year. In Burma, the mercury approached 50°C. At Byeargladesh and in the Philippines, the heatwave forced the closure of thousands of schools. This phenomenon is expected to continue in May. Temperatures above seasonal norms are expected in the region.
