The earliness of this heat wave remains unheard of in France. 23 departments are on heatwave orange vigilance. A particularly dreaded episode in nurseries, where everything is done to protect the little ones. Report in a municipal structure of Rouen, in Seine Maritime.

Hat or cap on children’s heads, sunscreen, water sprayers. In a municipal nursery in Rouen (Seine-Maritime)no air conditioning, but employees already prepared for the heat wave. “We can take the children out in the morning and they come back for lunch, so around 11 a.m., and they don’t come out in the afternoon”explains Anne Le Carpentier, director of the Terre Adélie crèche.

In each room, the CO2 sensors installed during Covid-19 serve as a thermometer. Ultimately, the town hall’s project is to replant trees in places welcoming children to limit heat islands. We also anticipate the aggravation of heat peaks and heat waves, in particular thanks to this renaturation program.explains Annie Bolt-Fahmymunicipal councilor responsible for early childhood. Vigilance is therefore required before the temperatures go down again on Sunday June 19.
